Q: Why carbohydrates?
A:
Carbohydrates play an enormous number of key roles in nature (fertilization, immune response, tissue compatibility) to ensure proper biochemical functions. The field of glycobiology is currently evolving.
Q: What can I learn?
A: Organic synthesis, NMR techniques, Mass spectrometry techniques, some biochemical techniques.
Q: How long does it take to graduate?
A: It depends on the productivity of the student. Typically, an M.S. degree is 2-3 years, and a Ph.D. degree takes 4-6 years beyond the B.S. degree.
