Q: Why carbohydrates?
A:
Carbohydrates play key roles in nature (fertilization, immune response, tissue compatibility) to ensure proper biochemical functions. Glycobiology research reveals how sugars function in nature.
Q: What can I learn?
A: Organic synthesis, NMR techniques, Mass spectrometry techniques.
Q: How long does it take to graduate?
A: It depends on the productivity of the student. Typically, an M.S. degree is 2-3 years, and a Ph.D. degree takes 4-6 years beyond the B.S. degree.
Q: Will I be able to publish my research?
A: Yes, if it is of sufficient quality and originality.
Q: Will I be able to publish as Undergraduate student?
A: Yes, the group has published with Undergraduate co-authors.
Q: Is there financial support for Graduate students?
A: Yes, the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemistry Graduate Program (PCSP) provides teaching assistantships and tuition remission.
Q: Is there financial support for Undergraduate students?
A: Undergraduate research can be registered for academic credit (elective). For the special Stauffer summer research program stipends are available on a competitive basis.
